Guided tour of Cagliari, main town of the Autonomous Region of Sardinia: See the Roman Amphitheatre, walk through the medieval "Castello" area, situated on the hill, that dominates the Angel's gulf of Cagliari. The Castello quarter was fortified by the Pisans in the 13th cent. and later strengthened by the Spanish: the S. If you don't want to walk you can book a comfortable ride on the "Red-Blue" tourist train of Cagliari, which passes through the old-city-centre of Cagliari.
Below the "Castello" area the "Marina" area is located, one of the 4 ancient areas of Cagliari, which goes back to the Roman era. Because of it's nearness to the harbour it was always inhabited by "sea-men", fishermen and sailors who stayed there during the landing of their boats. Still today many restaurants of various price-categories can be found there. The "Marina" area faces the famous Boulevard "via Roma" to the south, next to the ferry harbour.

Dinner at The Convento

At 7 p.m. departure of the coaches to Cagliari where you will be dining in an old refurbished Convent. Upon your arrival there will be 4 "Launedda"-blowers playing for you. "Sa Launeddas" are an ancient and typical Sardinian music-instrument, which is blown like a doodle-bag.
In the inner yard of the Convent there will be a sort of Sardinian handcraft-market organised for you, which informs you on Sardinian culture and traditions: The ceramist, the knife-worker, the basket-producer, the carpet-weaver, the carpenter, the leather-expert, the "Torronaio" a sweet-pastry-baker who produces the typical "Torrone", a delicious Italian sweet similar to "Turkish Honey". Exhibition of Sardinian bread-art, bread of different shapes elaborated artistically as it is still done nowadays on holy days.

Of course, you will also have the possibility of purchasing these products. This is just a selection of handcrafts. In any case there will be 10 different craftsmen.

The restaurant, which has a typical Mediterranean ambience, will be decorated with 5-arm candleholders and small bouquets of Mediterranean herbs. If you wish we can organise a Sardinian folk-group.
